Sonia Marin was born in Padua on February 25, 1971. She is a Milan based professional photographer and author. Along with her career, she is also a longtime resident lecturer at IED, European Institute of Design, for the photography and fashion departments.She collaborates with influential fashion, accessories, and interior brands and companies, and her work is featured in several international and national magazines. She played an important part as a speaker at the Advertising Photography section during the 6th International Orvieto Photography Convention in 2004. She won 1st prize Best Fine Art Picture in the Commercial Field at the 10th Master edition of the 2006 International Photography Festival in Moscow. In 2014 she worked on a Project for UniCredit, shooting pictures on medium-format film: her personal view became the beautiful book "Sketches of Milan, an Artist’s View of the UniCredit Tower", published by Skira. Her latest book "Twenty Weights, please" published by Boîte Editions is a portrait story, an intimate journey in the London of the 50th dedicated to her mother.
She made her debut in an Itinerant Exhibition that brought her success in exposing and selling her images at the Copenhagen Visual Art (1993), atWashington and at the Boston Ashuah Irvin Gallery (1994), at Geneve Photographic Center, and in Barcelona (1995)

PrizesShe won the first prize at The National Photography Contest, FotoPadova (1993), and at the National Competition "Francesco Bertozzi", Novara (1995)Best Portfolio at the National Competition -Premio Pizzochero- Italian Photography Foundation in Turin (1995). In 1996 she qualified herself at the Female Photography Contest in the Biennial Photoforum PascquArt at Bienne. Moreover, she won the second prize at the Contemporary Photography Contest "Federico Vender" at Arco (TN) (2002).Special mention as Best Complete Project on the “Photographic Talent” Competition by FNAC, Milan (2006).Best Artistic Picture of the year in the Commercial Field at the ”Master” Competition, Moscow (2006).
